Cricket Scotland today announced a Scotland XI to take on an MCC side at Lord’s this Thursday (21 April).  This will be the first action of 2011 for the Scots, who will find some familiar faces in the opposing team.  The MCC side will feature two former Scotland captains, Gavin Hamilton and Ryan Watson  in a side that also contains Hamid Hassan (Afghanistan) and Jamie Dalrymple (Middlesex, England) in this limited over fixture (50 overs).

Scotland coach Pete Steindl has selected Gregor Maiden to keep wicket for Scotland. This will also be the first match for overseas professional Luke Butterworth (Tasmania) in a Scotland shirt. Scotland will also line up with youngsters Oliver Hairs (Grange CC) Ewan Chalmers (Watsonian CC) and Ryan Flannigan (Watsonian CC) who will no doubt, benefit greatly from the experience of playing at the home of cricket.

This fixture will give the Scots a tough test before they commence their 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40 campaign with a double header away at Durham (April 24), and Leicestershire (25 April).
