W. Basketball. Gonzaga Defeats no. 7 seed Louisville 76-69

March 26, 2011

CVCA baseball team has new coach and plenty of youth

Youth is the theme for the nine Division III or IV baseball teams in the SportsInk.com coverage area, as each of the schools is looking to see which young players will step up to fill vacancies.

Nowhere is that focus on youth more evident than at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, where first-year coach Kevin Gross has just one senior. The Royals do find four returning starters, led by junior catcher David Gray, who hit well above .400 as a sophomore. Soph

GAA to test Hawk-Eye at Croke Park

The GAA has confirmed that Hawk-Eye goal-line technology will be tested in Croke Park next month.

The tests with Score Detection Technology provided by Hawk-Eye will be in place on Saturday 2 April as Dublin’s footballers and hurlers take on Down and Kilkenny respectively in the Allianz League double header.

The GAA confirmed the Hawk-Eye experiment in a statement, which read: ‘The suitability tests are planned to determine the logistics of positioning and installation of equipment in Croke Park as part of the ongoing feasibility test surrounding the possible use of the technology.

‘They will not form part of the matchday or scorekeeping apparatus and will not be used by the match referee or his assistants.’

GAA president Christy Cooney said: ‘This is the next step in the feasibility study which will be presented to Ard Chomhairle (National Executive), which will ultimately determine whether or not the technology is deemed suitable for use with Gaelic games.

‘Having football and hurling here on the same day means using this date makes perfect sense but despite the presence of the equipment it will have no direct role in the game or bearing on how scores are recorded.’
