MLB Betting: Boston Red Sox vs. L.A. Angels
Boston (-150) vs. L.A. (+140); Total set at 8
Pitchers: Josh Beckett vs. Tyler Chatwood
The Red Sox stay out on the west coast for this series after winning their first road game of the season yesterday afternoon in Oakland. They have their stud Josh Beckett on the mound for this contest, fresh off two dominant performances against the Yankees and Blue Jays; two very good offensive teams. Becket only allowed 1 run combined in those two games and would now like to shut down a hot Angels team that have only lost twice in their last 10 outings.
The Angels are back at home after a 5-1 road trip that saw them sweep the White Sox and take two of three from the defending AL champion Texas Rangers. Teams often struggle when coming home for the first time after a significant road trip but since it is more common place in the MLB, current form should be respected more. The Angels are winning with solid pitching and defense as no team scored more than 4 runs in any of their last eight wins and the only time an opponent hit 4, L.A had 15 so it really didn’t matter. They are up against a gem of a pitcher though in Beckett so they better hope that Chatwood has his stuff working too.
Boston’s early season struggles have been well documented but this is still a loaded team that has World Series aspirations and should build off that first road win yesterday. Their bats are beginning to come alive if you ignore that shutout in Oakland two days ago and the confidence they have with Beckett on the mound is back this season. They are 4-1 SU their last five games and 5-1 SU in Beckett’s last six starts on the road with a total set in this range. They are a veteran lineup that loves to feast on young pitchers like Chatwood and I expect them to do that tonight.
The MLB free pick is on the Boston Red Sox ML.
